Since Skånska Gyrokopterklubben was founded we have proactively worked to improve our procedures and thereby make training and flying safer, more efficient and more enjoyable. 0. Introduction
A detailed review of several years of incidents in Sweden and the EU involving gyroplanes shows that at least one of the following three phenomena was present in the chain of causation that led to the flight ending in a completely different way than the pilot intended.
1. Rotor handling
- Blade flapping / blade sailing
- Negative loading
- Lift and thrust (graphics)
- Gyroscopic precession
- Kiting
- Ballooning
2. Weather
- Take-off in strong winds (graphics)
- Windy weather
- Wind gradient (graphics)
- Winter flying
